  What changes can we make to a site? top
 
The answer is any html, htm & Flash design , search engine, and PHP and ASP development changes. To give you an idea some of the more frequent changes we get are to update images, text, documents on a site, add new pages.
 
  In the change request area can I leave messages for the person working on my changes? top
 
Yes, that is exactly what you can do. They can leave you messages to.
 
  How do I give you access to our website? top
 
We’d ask you email the details to support@website-changes.co.uk with the ftp and database details. This is the most secure way.
 
  How do you advise I upload all my docs when I raise a change request? top
 
If you have more than one doc to upload with a single request, please put all the files in a zip file and then upload the zip file with the support request.
 
  How do you recommend I make sure my changes are actioned properly? top
 
It’s always best to make sure your instructions are no open to interpretation. Be very specific and clear. To save on confusion it pays to spend a little bit longer to give accurate instructions. For more complex changes it may help to mock up the changes in Powerpoint, Word or on a PDF. If we are unclear we’ll always ask for clarification through the system before starting work.
 
  How will I know if GUMPTION have left me a message/update? top
 
You will receive an email notifying you that a new message is on the system.
 
  How do you make sure the site is not damaged by any changes you make? top
 
As best practice we always take a back-up of a site before starting work. Worst case we can then reinstall the old version of the site and start making any changes again.
 
Can I speak to the person who is making the changes? top
  You can call our project manager who is responsible for all changes on 0845 838 6099, though this should be used to escalate a query. For general use exchanging messages through your GUMPTION account, as many of our clients have found, should work well.
 
Why don’t I just install a content management system (CMS) and make the changes myself? top
  From experience CMS’s are particularly good if clients are updating product ranges or other very structured forms of data. In most cases, especially for a small business website, a CMS is very costly and unless you’re going to make regular changes you won’t get your money back. The other consideration is that you still won’t be able to make all the changes a designer can. A designer will before uploading images spend time preparing images so they have nice design touches. A person off the street simply can’t do this important work. Lastly, with a CMS the structure needs to remain the same – and quite often the changes you’ll want to make will mean a change to the structure, rendering the the expensive CMS redundant. Basically asking us to make the changes in 9/10 cases actually works out to be not only the most cost effective solution but also it’ll make sure the website keeps looking professional.
